Widow & Orphans Fund
Police Establishment.
On 23rd December last I wrote you on behalf of Mrs. Cuthbert, 68, Land Street, Keith, widow of the late lat class Inspector David buglas Cuthbert bringing before you her application for an increase n the rate of pension allowed to her from the above Fund. To this etter I received a reply that consideration was being given to the hole scales and rates of pension and my client has been patiently aiting the result, but the quarterly pension was paid to her as mul about a week ago at the former rate of 232;3;6d, 1.e. 28:0:10d. or the quarter. In my previous letter I already brought to your otice the fact that the late Inspector Cuthbert had 21 years service in the force at the date of his death and became entitled to a pension
£120 per annum sometime before his death, but having obtained per- desion to continue on active duty, he died while still in the service,
As is well known practically all Government departments have evised the rates of pension so as to equalise, to some extent, the
duced purchasing power of money and I shall be glad to know that an mcrease in the rate of pension has been authorised in this case more specially as I am informed that other participants from this fund ave been granted an increase of 25% post dated to 1st January, 1919. shall be glad to know the reason why this rate of increase has not een paid to Mrs. Cuthbert.
Yours faithfully,
C
